About Self Made®
Mission Statement
Self Made® stands to educate, motivate, and inspire individuals to achieve maximum human performance in sport and in life through a holistic lifestyle and superior training techniques.
The Name
First Corinthians 6:19 “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;”
Pillippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Psalm 18:32 “It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect.”
GOD lives in all of us. Through HIM I can do anything and everything. It is through the strength HE instills in me that I am Self Made.
The first part to the name’s meaning is religious-based, while the second part is science-based. You see, at Self Made® we don’t care about what you CAN do, we care about what you CAN’T do. Your limitations dictate how we are able to work with you. In a sense, YOU make the program, i.e. the program is Self Made.
The Slogan
My gym and my training programs are by no means “athlete-only” in the traditional sense. However, they are “athlete-only” in the sense that I view everybody as an athlete. Everybody is an athlete, but everybody is a different type of athlete within the wide spectrum of athleticism. This does not mean that you will only be trained as a traditional athlete; rather, you will be trained in a program tailored to meet your specific goals and needs. Whether it be to meet your weight-loss goals, increase your vertical jump, decrease body fat, increase lean muscle, improve your 40 time, or increase your energy to keep up with your kids, with Self Made® you can reach your health and fitness goals, because with Self Made® I’m making the world a better place, one athlete at a time®.
The Logo
Initially, this logo was to represent an explosive burst of movement, something that is vital in athletics, as well as a change of direction, both physically on the field of competition and symbolically as it applies to life in general. However, the more I began to look at the logo the more I realized what was unintentionally, or not, created: the ideal angles of the shin and femur while applying proper acceleration technique were depicted, with the gluteals and calves represented by the upper and lower humps. The gluteals and calves—the most powerful (strength x speed) muscle in the body in the gluteals and one that provides both function and balance in the calves. Strength. Speed. Function. Balance. Self Made®.
